<p>Dear All,</p>
<p>We reported earlier that users had been experiencing problems with the <strong>Checkout</strong> / <strong>Payment</strong> process, specifically that the checkout page had simply been refreshing instead of taking shoppers to the PayPal payment &#8216;gateway&#8217; (more detail can be found <a title="Art Supplies IT Checkout Error" href="http://www.artsuppliesit.co.uk/news/checkout-errors/">here</a>).</p>
<p><strong>This issue is now resolved</strong>. It was caused by an update in <a title="Get Shopped - WP e-commerce" href="http://getshopped.org/">the e-commerce system we use</a> which reconfigured shipping options in the back-end of our shop. In the long-term this should mean that we are able to offer orders on an international basis, dynamically calculating shipping prices for different countries, and automatically offering discounts for bulk orders. <strong>We apologise for any inconvenience caused</strong>.</p>

<p>We&#8217;re having some technical problems with the site at the moment. Specifically with the checkout and payment process. The errors being experienced usually follow the pattern below:</p>
<p>&gt; Successful population of the <strong>Shopping Cart</strong> with items</p>
<p>&gt; On the &#8216;<strong>Verify your Order</strong>&#8216; page &#8216;<strong>Billing/Contact</strong>&#8216; details and &#8216;<strong>Shipping details</strong>&#8216; are successfully populated in the text fields</p>
<p>&gt; When the &#8216;<strong>Make Purchase</strong>&#8216; button at the bottom of the page is clicked, instead of taking you to the payment screen, the page simply refreshes</p>
<p>We are aware of this issue and working on a fix. There appears to be a bug in the latest version of the <a title="WP e-commerce" href="http://getshopped.org/">e-commerce plugin</a> we use on the site. This is free and open-source software, and this issue is being experienced by other online shops who use this e-commerce solution. Rest assured we are working around the clock to resolve the issue and will post an update as soon as we&#8217;ve fixed the problem.</p>

<p>In future we hope to dynamically update stock levels on a regular basis so that it won&#8217;t be possible to order an item we don&#8217;t have. For now please bear with us, we&#8217;re offering prompt refunds through PayPal to anybody whose order we are unable to fulfill. This is the coldest winter for many part of Europe and the US in 40 years - why not go out and enjoy the cold weather whilst you wait for you art supplies to arrive?</p>
